The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ is getting closer – 67 days to go!

In less than three months’ time – on 14 June, to be precise – the 21st FIFA World Cup™ kicks off at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium, as the hosts take on Saudi Arabia.

That leaves us plenty of time to enjoy a countdown. Between now and the start of the World Cup, we will take a closer look at a different statistic from the history of the tournament each day.

67 James Rodriguez averaged a goal every 67 minutes at the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™. The Colombian attacking midfielder found the net a total of six times across his 400 minutes on the pitch in Brazil.

Rodriguez struck half of Colombia’s goals at the tournament, in the process helping his country to their best-ever run at a World Cup: Los Cafeteros broke new ground by advancing to the quarter-finals, in which they succumbed at the hands of the hosts.

Rodriguez’s exploits earned him the adidas Golden Boot, as the leading marksman at Brazil 2014. As if that were not enough, his majestic volley at the iconic Maracana, with which he opened the scoring in his side’s Round of 16 win over Uruguay, was voted the Goal of the Tournament by FIFA.com users.
